WLSFA’s Speakers Topic 2012 Mother of All Meet & Greets Las Vegas
Kickin’ the Habits!
Kickin’ the Habits (a.k.a. Kickin’ those Blasted Little Moles)
SO… you’re no longer engaging in those unhealthy food and eating behaviors of your pre-surgery days. Congratulations! Have I told you the story of Whack-A-Mole behavior? (Actually, I call it Whack-A-Mole Addiction, but I don’t want to scare anyone away from my talk!) Antonia specifically asked me to talk at the WLSFA Meet N Greet about the problems that are occurring in the post-op community with people turning to alcohol and other substances/behaviors that can end up being as destructive as food used to be. In recovery from obesity, the goal is to learn healthy behaviors to replace unhealthy eating. Come listen and learn what those healthy options are and find out how to avoid replacing one unhealthy “mole” with another!
About Dr. Connie
Dr. Connie is getting more and more involved in the WLS world! In addition to continued writing about Recovery from Obesity, she will be in a “formal debate” at this year’s ASMBS in San Diego discussing food as an addictive substance. She spoke on the same topic in Germany last September at IFSO. Most excitingly, Dr. Connie is now presenting, throughout the country, a three-day intensive therapy weekend for Post-Ops entitled “Surveying Your Garden” and is assisted by the “Post Op” of “A Post Op & A Doc,” Cari De La Cruz. Dr. Connie and Cari are also presenting “A Post Op & A Doc – Live,” throughout the country at a variety of events. Make it a point to get out there and see them!
The WLSFA is so happy to welcome back one of the dearest members of the our Community. Dr. Connie Stapleton has been a supporter of our foundation from day one and has done all in her power to help us succeed in fundraising and making others aware there is a charity to support the medical treatment of obesity. This year we are happy to announce Connie is again a speaker and will host a table where you will all have an opportunity to meet and chat with Connie and if your lucky nab an autographed copy of her amazing book ‘Eat it Up”.
