I underwent Gastric Bypass Surgery in March of 2009 in Flagstaff. My highest known weight was 387 lbs and the day of my weight loss surgery (WLS) I weighed in at 331 lbs. I’ve currently maintained between 160-167 lbs for almost two years now. The 220+ pounds that I lost from WLS has left me with a massive amount of excess skin which I‘m on a journey to have removed. Thanks to Dr. Timothy Katzen for performing my 360 body lift. Receiving the WLSFA grant has changed my life in so many different ways and I’m blessed to have had the opportunity.
Since the pre-op stages, I’ve been documenting my weight loss journey on my YouTube channel. I try my absolute hardest to take my viewers deep into my brain and try to help as many people as possible through personal experiences, personal thoughts, and lessons learned. Our 1st Annual WLS Las Vegas Meet & Greet is where the WLSFA was born. Thanks to Antonia Namnath being inspired by all of the stories there, she started this wonderful non-profit organization, and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
Since having WLS and reconstructive surgery, my entire life has changed. I’m healthy, I’m happy, and most of all, I have HOPE. The feelings that I’ve felt, and the experiences I’ve encountered since both surgeries – I would do whatever it to bottle it up and pass it out to everyone in the world. But since that’s not possible, I want to help plant the seed and watch it as it grows.
I’m very excited to work with everyone who is a part of the WLSFA, and help educate the world; and help the weight loss surgery community grow. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing foundation that gives people HOPE.
