I am married and our three children are furry. ;) I have been overweight my entire life and would have WLS in a second if my insurance company approved it, or I had the financial means to pay for it myself.

We are working hard to build the WLSFA so that we can give out grants. I know it is hard to wait but we are working as fast as we can! We have really only been a group since April.. so I think we are on target but it will never be fast enough!

hthranne2 Same here some times it makes me soo mad to see people sitting on there but not even trying to work an get WLS because there Medicaid or state funded insurance covers it no questions asked:(

I figured out what I could afford to pay each month(which was not much) and wrote to the only doctor I knew who was doing the surgery and told him how desperately I needed and wanted this ! I told him what I could afford and how I would pay for it . He agreed to help me if I could come up with 600 dollars which was one fourth of the cost. I did the same with the hospital . By some miracle they all agreed to do this my way !! I realize how much more wxpensive it is now and hope we can find many creative ways to raise the funds so others may benefit.

My doctors were the ones who suggested my surgery and found that it would be covered. but it came slow and with much hard work on my part…in no way was it just given to me….
